John Burgess

Owner/Marketing & Communications Director, Little Rocket

John is a proud Gurindji man and has a degree in Public Relations, Politics & Philosophy. He has spent his career working across the marketing and communications industry, in advertising, sales, radio, sponsorship and engagement roles.

John established Little Rocket nine years ago and has worked with a great range of government, corporate, NGO and indigenous organisations since. He serves on the Board of Kinaway Chamber of Commerce and is a certified Supply Nation supplier.



David has a Bachelor of Design (Communication Design) and a wealth of experience within the design industry. He spent time as a finished artist for Australia’s leading heritage interpretation business and accumulated four years as Senior Graphic Designer at a customer rewards and strategy business. Dave possesses great knowledge and respect for our First Nation people, having spent 2 years living on Country in Kalkaringi, NT. He is our Creative Director and design guru when it comes to branding, print design, strategy, wayfinding and interpretation design. In his downtime, he enjoys surfing, exploring the great outdoors, cheering on his beloved hawks and working on the family farm.



Steve has worked in Digital Design and Development for the past 10 years. With a focus on creating beautiful digital experiences. Steve spent 2 years working for a web development agency in London, since he’s returned he’s worked on multiple large and medium scale websites all with a focus on the end user. When he’s not hand modeling he’s probably up at Bonnie Doon on his boat.



Jena has worked in the design industry for almost 10 years, in companies across Australia and London – from small boutique design studios to global marketing agencies. Specialising in branding and illustration, with a focus on identity creation, Jena has a passion for learning and problem solving. With a background in fine art, illustration not only informs a lot of her design work but is also a passionate side project. When she’s not drawing, she’s stalking dogs on instagram or planning her next big trip overseas.



Izy Kali is an ever curious designer working across Graphic Design, Illustration and Motion Graphics. With several years experience in agencies as well as freelance, she is well-versed in print, digital, social media design, branding, animation, art direction as well as client pitches. Izy has lived in 7 countries and speaks three languages, contributing to her unique design thinking and the quirky edge to her approach. She is a lover of good food, good company and good boys (dogs).



Vinnie has worked in the Broadcast Television industry for over 10 years in both Melbourne and London, and has extensive experience in shooting, editing and producing. Over the years he has been a part of the team at Seven Network, Seven Sport, AFL Media and The Project (Network Ten) Vinnie joined the Little Rocket Team a year ago and has loved learning about the indigenous culture and being the indigenous space, using his main passion of story telling, to create informative video content with some inspiring people.



Mikaela is a proud Muthi Muthi/ Gunditjmara women, she is an artist and photographer and has a great love for creating and capturing moments in time. She puts passion and soul into all areas of her work and she loves working in her community to help create healthier lives for her mob. Mikaela believes that we can truly set an example by being the change we wish to see in order to achieve better outcomes for our people.
